Green Homes Grant
The Chancellor has announced that homeowners will be able to claim Green Home Grant vouchers of up to £5,000 for energy-saving home improvements, with some getting up to £10,000.
As part of a £2 billion Green Homes Grant announced for England, eligible homeowners will be able to use the vouchers to pay for environmentally friendly improvements such as installing loft, floor and wall insulation or double-glazing.
The Treasury have said the grants could help to support more than 100,000 jobs and forms part of a wider £3 billion plan to cut emissions.
How will the vouchers work?
The scheme is set to be launched in September 2020. Homeowners will be able to apply online at this point, for more information ring us on 01386 831710
Lower bills, lower emissions
In announcing the scheme the government said it will be providing at least £2 for every £1 homeowners and landlords spend to make their homes more energy efficient, up to £5,000 per household – fully funding energy efficiency measures of up to £10,000 for households on the lowest income.
The government also hope this scheme will support over 100,000 green jobs and help strengthen a supply chain that will be vital for meeting the UK’s target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The scheme aims to upgrade over 600,000 homes across England. Better insulation could save some people £600 a year on energy bills.
It is hoped the investment would also help to “kick-start our economy” as the UK recovers from the economic shock of coronavirus.
